Since 1986 at Peyruis (04) were are traditionaly making 100%
vegetal olive oil soaps just like soaps makers back in XVII century

The real soap from Marseille was often imitated from unprofessionnals.

It is always maded with olive oil.
The differents delicates stages requires all the attention and know - how
           of the soap makers :

PASTE PRODUCING, RISING OR CLEANSING, HEATING PROCESS, LIQUIFIYNG,           POURING OFF THE HEATED SOAP PASTE, CUTTIN UP AND MOULDING.

There are two ways of moulding.

            SOAP MADING
The vegetable oils and soda wash are mixed together .

Under the action of soda and heat, the oils gradually become soap paste.

The washing of soda is poured in l ' oil under boiling, this washing which
also contains of l ' water the fatty substance goes to hydrolyser which
splits up into fatty acid and glycerine
.

Soda reacts on fatty acid to give a salt of fatty acids: the soap ex Oléate of           sodium.

            PROCESS AND STEPS

            PASTE PRODUCING
The vegetable oils and soda wash are mixed together in a large vat which
can contain 20 tons of raw materials. Under the action of soda and heat,
the oils gradually become soap paste. This chemical reaction is the
            saponification or paste production.
            RISING OR CLEANSING
The soap paste is rinsed several times with salt water to remove the             remaining soda.
            HEATING PROCESS
The paste is heated at 100 °C for ten days. Heating starts up every morning             and is turned off every night.
            LIQUIFIYNG
The paste is then rinsed several times with fresh water, to remove all             impurities, thus earning the name “extra pure”. Being more liquid,
the paste is then allowed to settle during 2 days.
POURING OFF THE HEATED SOAP PASTE
While still hot (between 50 and 70 °C), the soap paste is poured into
the huge cooling tanks, by means of an articulated wooden feed pipe, called            “goulotte”.
            CUTTIN UP AND MOULDING
Once dry, the soap is cut, in the moulds. There are two ways of
stamping : hand-stamping on bars or in a machine mould for cubes.
Cubes are stamped on all six sides, the traditional
            sign of “Marseilles soap”

The soap which we offer you is maded according to this method said           " Marseillaise" in a stainless steel caldron. The choice of oils is
important because it bring its characteristics to the soap:
          texture, foamy power

There are two ways of moulding:

The traditional soap with  the sign of “Marseilles soap” just like soaps makers           were mading it back in XVII century.

For soap tablets, the raw materials are the same but production methods           differ slightly; the tablets are produced from flakes of Marseilles
soap to which perfume and shea butter are added.
